What Is DNS (Domain Name Server) ?

Simply, Domain Name Server or DNS is a computer that translates human friendly URLs (words) into computer friendly IP addresses. In other words, DNS maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses because, even though domain names are easy for people to remember, computers or devices access websites based on IP addresses. Is to be noted that this process occurs every time an internet user requests a page from a website. The main function of DNS or the nameserver is to store a “zone file” of a domain, where all domain information is kept (registration data, host records, etc.)

DNS or Domain Nameserver is a server on the Internet specialized on handling queries or demands about location of domain name’s various services.

Nameservers are a principal part of Domain Name System. They allow to use domains instead of IP addresses. In a simple explanation, they connect your domain name to your server or hosting IP addresses which in the end are connected to your website files.

When you’re placing a domain name order or register a domain with us, the system provides you with a choice to use our DNS/ Domain Nameservers or use another one of your preference. If you don’t change it, your domain name will be registered will our default DNS. For exanple: NS1.DOMAIN.COM, NS2.DOMAIN.COM
